  • Who should I refer for counseling intervention?
  • Students who demonstrate any of the following:
  • Attention Problems
    impulsive behavior; difficulty sitting still, focusing, attending to/staying on task; frequently out of seat
  • Socialization Problems
    trouble making & keeping friends; disliked by peers; lonely; withdrawn; insists on having his/her own way
  • Anger Management
    temper outbursts; physically/verbally abusive behavior; fights; excessive office referrals for inappropriate behavior
  • Grief and Loss
    difficulty coping due to loss of significant adult by way of: death, divorce, parental separation
  • Work Habits
    problems with: responsibility, organization, homework return, completion of assignments, working independently, listening, following directions, time management
  • How do I refer students for counseling intervention?
  • Print and fill out a referral form and put it in Margie Mulder’s mailbox.
  • What happens after I submit a referral?
  • Classroom Observation of Student, Teacher Conference, Parent Intake Conference, Possible SST meeting, Schedule Intervention as needed
